al-iskandareyya

This is Alexandria. We were assigned to do a piece based on the Fibonacci Spiral, and this is what I was able to come up with. It uses charcoal, which is a medium that I'm not completely familiar with, but I really enjoyed using. I like the realistic aspect of the piece, because most of what I draw is semi-realistic, and so it's something different for me. I don't really like some aspects of the drawing- like her hair. It's kinda bothering me, but I like the piece as a whole. I love to draw people so this was really fun.
Sorry to ramble! Hope you like it- leave comments as you see fit! :D
I hope to post some other things, but I have yet to get pictures of them, so I will let you know... I might post on my other blog as well, so check it out!
enjoy! :D

  1. I like how you titled the piece 'Alexandria' with the whole Arabian theme and the pages of books referencing the lost library of Alexandria. Really cool with the double-meaning.

  2. i love how "in depth" alex is thinking. haha. (wink wink alex). i really love her hair and her green eyes are hypnotizing. you're very bold to tackle the "realistic person look" which i can't seem to even start to handle. u did a great job with it!

  4. This piece is great, the only thing that still slightly irks is me is the hair; but I still love it. It is a gorgeous piece, and I love how lit up her eyes are. Its the most expressive area of the piece.

  5. Well...You pretty much know how I feel about this piece already...I mean, how much more can I gush over it, really. She amazes me. I want to know what is happening that makes her so fierce looking...Great, Great, Great job. I'm in love with her ferocity.

  6. hey, first off.. like the hair, well done. since we're doing a compliment sandwhich type thing, i think you said that the lips were a little too big and i agree with that since the rest of the piece is so fierce. but good job with the eyes and the eyelashes. bravo.
